Airchat: the next Twitter ... or the next Clubhouse?
Silicon Valley rolled out another new social app last week called AirChat.
GM. Silicon Valley rolled out another new social app last week called AirChat. The Air Force pitted its first plane using an unmanned jet. Crypto fundraising sees an uptick.
Without Further Ado. ☕ *knuckle cracks* ☕ Let’s get into it.
Tinder’s Brian Nogard and AngelList founder Naval Ravikant re-launched an invite-only version Airchat early last week.
It’s an audio-first, short form social app.
Their hypothesis: if more people heard the natural sound of someone’s voice, they may be more inclined to get along.
Instead of posting text, users can post by simply recording their voice, and Airchat will quickly produce an accurate transcript of what you said. Users will have a choice to play or pause the audio and just read text if they prefer.
It took me a few minutes to adjust to using the app, you can’t really listen to anything else like music or a podcast if you’re scrolling and want to hear people’s voices (obviously). But it does make you think before you post, since it’s your voice. So it could help deter bad takes posted on impulse.
Do you think an audio-first short form social app will last?
