Some hot takes to take to the water cooler
GM. Happy Friday and welcome to the weirdest week of the year. Is it actually Friday? Is anyone working? It’s 10am, am I supposed to start drinking now? Who could say for sure.
Today, we’re back with another edition of bar bites. We’ll give you the hot topics and ammo you need to start a fight with your family about a news story you don’t actually care about.
Without Further Ado. ☕ *knuckle cracks* ☕ Let’s get into it.
Your daily AI dose
Mindstream is your one-stop shop for all things AI.
How good are we? Well, we become only the second ever newsletter (after the Hustle) to be acquired by HubSpot. Our small team of writers works hard to put out the most enjoyable and informative newsletter on AI around.
It’s completely free, and you’ll get a bunch of free AI resources when you subscribe.

Character AI gives Telegraph reporter posing as a teenager advice on how to kill another ‘child’ and dispose of his body
Tl:dr
Character AI, which is available to anyone over 13 and has 20 million users, provides advice on how to get rid of evidence of a crime and lie to police.
It encourages users who have identified themselves as minors not to tell parents or teachers about their “conversations”.
Asked how best to go about attacking a bully named “Zac”, the chatbot instructed the user it had been told was 13 to wait until his aggressor’s back was turned before knocking him down and applying a “death grip”.
Our take
First, we’d like to say we legally disavow anything related to kids murdering each other.
Now, our real take is that we told you years ago that the general public should not have AI. Now there are consequences. Also, people forget that it is still a computer program. Bad input will yield bad output. Here’s another groundbreaking take on that. Stop trying to trick the robot into murder. If the program has gone off the rails, then let’s take it offline. Problem solved.
Four AI predictions for 2025
Tl;dr
AI development will not hit a wall, yet
Companies will still be integrating AI for everything, without a killer use case
Nvidia will still rule
Despite a volatile year, the AI stock run will continue
Our take
These aren’t crazy takes, they are barely even takes. But, if all 4 of these things hold true, there’s money to be made from betting on these predictions. Similarly, you might completely disagree with some of this guy’s opinions, and you can make some money proving him wrong. Either way, it’s a good thought exercise heading into next year.
Crypto readies its wish list for Trump
Tl:dr
Here are some policies on the crypto industry’s wish list.
Pass a comprehensive crypto bill
Appoint crypto-friendly regulators
Roll back SEC crypto accounting guidance
Our take
Speaking as people in crypto, I can confirm that these things are on our wishlist. Another article with not so groundbreaking takes, but it’s the slowest news week of the year so what’re we gonna do.
One thing worth mentioning is that all of these wishes actually look like they will be granted by the all powerful orange man. Some of the hype has died down since the election, but everyone should be ready to pump it up again when these decisions start happening.
The fall of EV startup Fisker: A comprehensive timeline
Tl;dr
Henrik Fisker once envisioned a burgeoning EV empire at the startup he named after himself, which was to be led by the Ocean SUV. But cracks started showing in that vision almost as soon as the Ocean hit the road in 2023.
Fisker cut production targets multiple times, failed to meet sales goals and laid off staff, and ultimately paused production.
Our Take
As a secret EV hater, this is an enjoyable read. Turns out making cars at scale is really difficult, and not every tech dreamer should be given billions to try.
On a sympathetic note, it is a bit of a sad story. Don’t try to make an EV company at home kids, it will end in heartbreak.
AI App of the Week 💻
AI gets a lot of hype. But how does that help me?

This Week’s App De Jour: Backflip
Turn text into advanced 3D AI-generated designs. Pretty cool.
