🗿 A New Internet Era in Europe
The Digital Services Act officially goes into effect on Friday, fundamentally changing the way Europeans experience their Internet lives.
Today’s No FOMO newsletter is brought to you by…
GM. Another crypto startup shutters its doors after receiving millions in funding. What once made me anxious is starting to feel liberating, can we just wash out all of these unprofitable companies so we can smack the reset button and I can really start making money in crypto again? Who’s next?
Without Further Ado. ☕ *knuckle cracks* ☕ Let’s get into it.

It’s A New Era for Social Media in Europe 📲
The Digital Services Act officially goes into effect on Friday, fundamentally changing the way Europeans experience their Internet lives.
Here are a few new features for EU users:
You can now turn off AI-recommended videos
You can easily flag harmful content
You will receive clearer explanations about why your posts are removed
You will be able to quickly report fake products and services
Children cannot be targeted with digital ads
How (we think) things will shake out:
While the US may be the global leader in developing transformative technology, Europe is the global leader in regulating it. Expect other developed economies (including the US) to eventually follow suit on these rules if things start to go well.
I think we can all agree on basic standards; 13 year olds shouldn’t be targeted like an informed consumer.
Having the choice to opt out of Meta’s artificial intelligence ranking and recommendation systems, for example, is another powerful way to offer users a chance to take control back of their Internet lives.
Listen, some people prefer to be targeted like a 50s factory worker in Soviet Russia so they can seamlessly get offers for their next favorite shoe. I’m not saying we should ban it. Let’s just make it optional.
