Paypal Launches ETH Stablecoin 🪙

Boasting 429M daily active users, payment juggernaut Paypal announces plans to launch a stablecoin on the Ethereum network.

Yeah, that’s 429 MILLION, or 2,145 times more users than Ethereum’s ~ 200K users.

Fast facts:

• The stablecoin will be U.S. dollar-denominated, dubbed PayPal USD (PYUSD).

• PYUSD is 100% backed by U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and similar cash equivalents.

• It is issued by Paxos Trust Company, a regulated financial institution.

• PYUSD is available to consumers, merchants, and developers to seamlessly connect fiat and digital currencies.

• It can be used to pay for goods and services on PayPal, as well as to send and receive money within the PayPal network.

• PYUSD is also supported by select external wallets and dapps.

Key Benefits of a PayPal USD:

• Stable value: PYUSD is 100% backed by U.S. dollars, so it maintains its value regardless of fluctuations in the cryptocurrency market.

• Convenience: PYUSD can be used to pay for goods and services on PayPal, as well as to send and receive money within the PayPal network.

• Security: PYUSD is issued by Paxos Trust Company, so it will be heavily regulated.

• Scalability: PYUSD is an ERC-20 token, which means it can be easily integrated with other blockchain-based applications.

Paypal is the first major payment processor to offer a stablecoin, and it is likely to pave the way for other payment processors to follow suit.

The launch of PYUSD will make it easier for consumers to use crypto to pay for goods and services. That is MASSIVE for mass adoption 📈
