Neuralink – the neurotech brain chip – achieved FDA approval last May. In a post on X, Neuralink’s founder Elon Musk said they implanted the first chip in a human patient and they are “recovering well.”

The first product is called Telepathy. Its aim? Help patients with neurological diseases like ALS through a brain-computer interface (BCI). A high-functioning BCI could help suffering patients communicate by typing with their minds.

Neuralink isn’t the only BCI.

Precision Neuroscience has already completed a human trial, and Synchron used its BCI to help a patient post a tweet back in 2021.

Really Unlikable Things 🙅

The toy store in San Francisco that inspired “Toy Story” is closing down because of rampant crime.

SF has been a post-apocalyptic mess for some time now, but this really seems like the beginning of the end.

The store has been open for 86 years, but just announced that February will be their last month. The area is too unsafe for enough foot traffic to support Jeffrey’s Toys, and sounds too unsafe for us to visit ever again.

How did it come to this? The most tech money in one city anywhere in the world and we can’t even keep a small toy store open? You SF people should all be ashamed of yourselves.
