GM. 30 years and trillions of dollars later, Wall Street is finally ditching China. Their latest bet? India.

This kinda feels like a hopeful father who grooms his son to be a G for 18 years, but the son becomes a know-it-all brat, so the dad divorces his mom, remarries a woman 15 years younger, has another son, and invests all his time in the new son as a form of redemption.

Anyway, Solana crashed this morning and AI-enabled Fake IDs are passing KYC tests.

Without Further Ado. ☕ *knuckle cracks* ☕ Let’s get into it.

Solana Went Down For 5 Hours This Morning

Solana hit a near 5-hour downtime Tuesday morning. The token dropped as low as $93.32 then quickly rebounded.

  • In April 2023, Solana was down for two days … so it’s seen darker days

  • According to the Solana Foundation the bug came as a result of a new validator software release

It’s one thing if a plug-in app like Phantom Wallet has access issues. It’s like Wells Fargo’s online banking experiencing some downtime.

But if Wells Fargo the bank started glitching and going down for hours, the entire bank would crumble.

Maybe it’s an indication of the resiliency of blockchain, given Solana’s price rebounded very quickly. Or it’s a fair warning that it’s not a reliable store of value. Time will tell, as they say.

TLDR; Solana crashed again and its price rebounded quickly.

Well Known No-Names 📇

With an “atmospheric river” storm brutalizing the west coast, we thought we’d look into how we can even accurately predict weather.

Meet Joseph Henry, the father of weather forecasting

Every single one of our readers, and maybe every person alive today, has seen a weather forecast. But how?

We’ll save you the time of the full story, and just give you some key details:

  • Joseph Henry was the Smithsonian’s first director

  • He started in the mid 1800s by deploying a network of 600 volunteers to report back weather from different locations

  • Joseph Henry created the first weather map showing weather across the entire US

  • Henry’s visions of monitoring weather on a large scale and developing a science of weather have been realized in the sophisticated forecasting system we have today

Of course, today we have much more advanced technology tracking the weather, but essentially the system is the same – weather can be predicted by observing patterns and directions of weather systems.

Next time you open the weather app on your phone, tip your cap to Joseph Henry.
