North America Is Largest Crypto Market Despite Regulatory Uncertainty
GM. Memecoin szn????? Crypto markets continue its upward trend as alts like $PEPE boast a 2x market cap in a very short period. Bitcoin is still leading the run with levels reminiscent of pre-Terra collapse levels ~ $35K.
In non-crypto news, Generative AI still top of mind for major corporations. Amazon sees AI as a critical factor for its long-term growth.
Without Further Ado. ☕ *knuckle cracks* ☕ Let’s get into it.

BAYC Creator To Pay Yuga Labs $1.5M
California judge rules RR/BAYC creator, Ryder Ripps, must pay Yuga Labs over $1.5m on top of any attorney fees as case comes to a close.
A key thing the court cited to show why the judge didn’t believe testimony stating the NFT collection was a protest were texts from Pauly to Ryder exclaiming:
“Ur gonna make so much on this shit LMFAO. You’ll make like a million dollars.”
What implication does this have on the legal status of NFTs?
Let’s talk copyright infringement and NFTs.
In the case of Ryder Ripps and Yuga Labs, Ripps infringed on Yuga Labs' copyright by creating and selling NFTs that were derivative works of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. This case shows that NFT creators and sellers need to be careful to avoid infringing on the intellectual property rights of others.
Sooo the whole “right click save as” narrative is total BS. This California ruling validates the rigidity of NFT creator rights.
TLDR; the regulatory and legal status of NFTs in the United States is still in flux, evaluated on a case-by-case basis. But copyright infringement laws are clear. Don’t try to sell someone else’s IP – even if it’s a blockchain jpeg.

Stanford Ovshinsky, a 20th-century genius with more than 400 patents to his name
This week we’re bringing you a true silent superhero of our world. If you’ve heard of him already, you’re probably a true super-nerd. We’ll try to keep it brief, with over 400 patents to his name, this section could go on for weeks.
Ovshinsky was the first to invent technology envisioning a flat screen TV in 1966 - about 30 years before it was released to the public. In 1979 during the height of coal power, Ovshinsky was focused on solar. He invented a system of continuous mass production to make solar power affordable. And in the early 80s he invented a rechargeable nickel-metal hydride battery that is still being used to power electric cars today.
A real visionary trying to help our world. We salute you Stanford Ovshinsky.
